Master technique: A diamond ring being tested for its authenticity at Master Diamonds boutique in Vijayawada on Tuesday. — VIJAYAWADA: Master Diamonds, an exclusive diamond boutique, which claims to be the first in the city and second in the State (after Hyderabad) to have the facility to test diamonds for their authenticity, was opened in Raj Residency complex near Hotel Fortune Murali Park on Tuesday.
Proprietor K. Ramachandra, a gemmologist who received training from the Gem Testing Laboratory at Jaipur, told reporters that the boutique would sell only authentic diamonds and diamond jewellery.
If the customers demand that what they purchase should be tested in their presence for authenticity, it would be done in the special laboratory set up at a cost of Rs.4 lakhs.
The testing, using four different kinds of instruments, would be done at a nominal charge even if old diamonds and diamond jewellery were brought.
“For all the items purchased here, we issue a certificate from the US-based Imagem Inc, detailing the weight of the item, approximate weight of the diamonds in it, number of diamonds, shape, colour and clarity,” Mr. Ramachandra said.Wide range
A range of diamond jewellery, including necklaces, rings, bangles and earrings, would be available at the showroom, Mr. Ramachandra added.
